Roma

I was in Rome for a few days last week, and of course couldn't resist picking up a few papers for future projects!

It was a great few days, we walked and walked, enjoyed watching artists at work in Piazza Navona,
 people watched from pavement cafes,
saw this fountain and had to take a photo!
We saw Roman Centurians all over the city!
Sat on the Spanish Steps with everyone else
 Saw the Pope
lots of Fiat 500s, great little cars, i love them!
And of course, threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain...
so I have to go back!

beginnings

Bookbinding is a new adventure for me, I have always enjoyed making things, scrapbooking, knitting, sewing, painting, baking, and of course books. I love books, books to read, books to write in, books of all shapes and sizes...
Back in January, I randomly met someone who works at an Art school here in Siena where they were preparing to start a new term of classes in February... one of which was Bookarts. I just mentioned that if they had space for an extra student, I would love to join that class.... and didn't think anything more of it.
Then a couple of weeks later I got a message from her, saying the teacher had agreed to open the class to me, the price was good so I jumped at the chance! A 12 week course in bookbinding was the perfect introduction for me.
Some examples of the types of books we'll be making
Now I am reading about bookbinding, trying out different ideas, experimenting, and absolutely loving everything I'm learning!
This is what i want to do!
